Hi,

I tried to post a response to your questions in the 460 forum but couldn't get log'd on for some reason.

I am doing a conversion using a '95 EFI 460/E4OD into a 1990 F150 and was having similar issues to you.

I found the www.fordfuelinjection.com website pretty helpful. They supply resistors for tricking out the emmisions solenoids/air pumps etc. Doesn't appear to need anything exotic.

The VSS problem can be overcome with a signal interface from Dakota Digital (SGI-5 from memory). Just need to calibrate it based on the pulses from the rear axles ABS sensor.

The E4OD trans would be massive in a Mustang??? but much better than an old C6 you should have stuck with it. You can get a 460 ECU from a manual trans vehicle (lots of the F150/350's had 460 with manual trans) and swap that so you don't have problems with not having a E4OD trans.

I bought a separate trans controller from BEC but thought I would run with the factory setup to start with. The instructions with the BEC unit explain what to do with the computer.

Anyway your project is looking good - have fun

I am adapting a B&M Quicksilver shifter. One of the levers supplied fits the E4OD with a small amount of filing but the "Park" position will need adjustment.

Thanks for the info Mulvo :!: The E4OD would have been neat but I have a time line and didn't feel I could get things working like I wanted, along with the limited budget - the C-6 was the next best thing. Let me know how your swap works out - I will post more pics soon if you want to check back here.................. :D

If he was cut loose with the budget then that car would be twisting itself up like a soda can!! BBF Torque FTW!!

But if he does that she will be :axe2: after him.

Do you need a C6? I have one I have no use for and will let it go cheap

Link to a few more pics :D

Long story short I believe that the 94-95 k-member would fit better ( 96 and up are 4.6 ) since it was for a 5.0. Motor fits fine the issues to look at are ..........

Oilpan had to use Ford racing pan kit to clear K-member and steering rack, I used the offset rack bushings to give me alittle more room.

The A/C compressor is mounted very high as you can see by the pics - if this was a race car and didn't want the a/c it would be easy :!: the motor is as low as it will go ( without hitting the steering rack ) and the a/c comp still barley touches the hood and we are suing a very high hood as you can see in the pics :D I am goin to cut about 1/4 inch off of the compressor mounting bracket and another 1/4 off the compressor itself, then all should be good.

Now my only problem is the driverside exhuast manifold is very close to the steering colum shaft and an currently trying to move things around a little for clearance again if not for the a/c there would be no problem since I could lift the motor a little and solve my clearance problems. I am having to make mounts to keep the a/c otherwise I would try the conversion mounts also from Ford racing.

OK, the exhuast manifolds had to go :!: Got some used headers for a Foxbody 460 swap and test fitted them - they work :!: Will have to weld a small bead on the top and bottom of port of header becuase of the fuel 460 exhuast port shape is so different as seen in the pics.

Also am using TRANS-DAPT truck 460 motor mounts from Summitt ( $120 ) they help mount the motor lower so the a/c compressor will clear the hood :!: Also used offset power steering rack bushings to lower the rack and allow an even lower engine oil pan clearance :!:

Working on making the factory huge and ugly aluminum accessory mounts look better by triming and skeletizing them as seen in the pics.

So everything has pretty well been test fitted and now am taking it all apart for cleaning and painting/powder coating...................more pics to follow :D
